The cast of MMMbeth hard at work, left, in rehearsal last week. The play is a comic take on Shakespeare's Scottish play (whose name no superstitious thespian ever utters.) The young actors from Ronnie Short's Teentheatre and Kidztheatre do a fine job of getting to grips with the vagaries of Shakespeare's dialogue and the regular allusions to some of his other plays.
On the same billing is A Lamentable Comedy a true-to-script excerpt from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Director Ronnie Short is pleased with the achievements of her young cast.
"This the real McCoy," she said. "These kids are grasping the whole concept of what is a tricky play. Some of them are doing extracts for their grade 5 exams next week so performing the play helps them understand their exam pieces. The two plays back-to-back will be a great night's entertainment."
The two plays will be performed on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 November at 8pm in The Village Theatre. Tickets (adults $10 students $5) will be available at the door.
