Extreme weather in Bay this week
Photo supplied by the van Sint Annaland family in Paynes Ford
The unusually heavy rain that fell last Saturday, Sunday and Monday was not consistent throughout the Bay. The GB Weekly's regular rainfall correspondents recorded very large falls in Puramahoi (310 mm), Payne's Ford (361 mm) and Clifton (291 mm). Te Hapu however recorded "only" 99mm between Saturday morning and Tuesday morning.
The flooding that resulted had emergencies services on standby and very nearly lead to a civil defence emergency.
