Four of the 40-odd banners that now grace the streets of Takaka and Collingwood are shown above. Last year's banners have been hung again and there are 20 new ones. Banner project stalwart, Liza Eastman, said that the project could not have proceeded this year without the support of community board members Carolyn McLellan and Leigh Gamby.
"The funding process was particularly fraught, and erecting the poles and the banners was more complicated than last year too," said Liza. "Carolyn and Leigh were wonderful."
Liza also paid tribute to the Sholtens family who contributed three banners and Elvira Pontier's after-school art class which contributed four. She also said that local upholsterer Mark Allinson had done a great job of sewing the canvases.
