Summer art workshops: sculpture, painting and mosaics

Golden Bay's perennially popular Summertimes Festival in January will feature three workshops designed to appeal to arty folk.
"The two-day Oamaru stone sculpture workshop tutored by Jocelynne Bacci and Chontene Nathan is being offered twice again this summer," said community recreation co-ordinator Dave Myall. "It's so popular that we had to offer it twice last year and both filled up, so it's on 8 and 9 January as well as 15 and 16 January. The Community Gardens turned out to be a brilliant venue so we're back there this year."
Dave is very enthusiastic about the two new art workshops that have been added to the programme this season. Kirsty Richmond will offer one-day workshops in mosaic mirror-making and Lorraine Polglase will tutor painters in an ‘acrylic on canvas' workshop. There are two chances to get on the mirror-making workshop, Monday 19 and Wednesday 21 January, but the two-day acrylic on canvas workshop will be offered only on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 January.
"It's likely that the workshops will fill very quickly," said Dave." Interested people should register and pay a deposit to make sure they don't miss out."
Dave can be reached on 525 8876 or via email on <recreation@gbcw.co.nz>.
