The Takaka Swimming Club is conducting busy training sessions every Tuesday afternoon and evening.
"We sort the swimmers into grades according to their ages and experience," said club president Graham Wells. "The learn-to-swim session for beginners is full and we won't have any vacancies till after Christmas. We have room for competent swimmers of all ages who want to improve or maintain their skills. I'm sure there are plenty of people in this category. We'd like to pick up more competitive swimmers too. We take a team to competitions over the Hill later in the season."
Graham said that the club's major fundraiser for the year, the Tata Swim, was coming up on 3 January. "The Tata Swim is the way we keep the fees as low as we do," he said. "It takes a lot of organising, though, and we'd love to have some parent help with it. We're always after spot prizes too."
