Police dogs, Market, weather booked for Show
The 112th Golden Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Show promises to draw a big crowd this weekend. "We've got nearly 90 trade stands so there's plenty for everyone to see," said association president Duncan McKenzie. "A new thing this year is that the market that usually takes place in the carpark by the library is happening up at the show. It's something a bit different for the show and for the market people. We're very pleased."
Association secretary Brian Reilly, who claims to have connections where it counts, has ordered the perfect day for Saturday. According to his wife Noleen it will be "nice and sunny, but not too hot, and with a bit of a breeze, but not too much."
Brian said that while the trick motorcyclists were unable to attend this year, the committee was pleased that the police dogs and their handlers would be putting on a display. "We had them before, maybe back in the early 90s, and they were great. People will be very interested in them."
Gates open at about 7.30am for early attenders and the grand parade will be at 3.30pm.
