Police report 30 January 2009

14 January: A two-vehicle non-injury collision occurred on Abel Tasman Drive after a tourist drove on the incorrect side of the road. The 22-year-old driver was charged with careless use of a motor vehicle.
16 January: A 25-year-old Takaka man was processed for driving with excess breath alcohol. The results of a blood test are pending.
15 January: Three life jackets were reported stolen from a boat. The offence could have occurred anytime in the preceding three weeks.
17 January: An 18-year-old Takaka man was arrested and charged with intentional damage after he damaged a dwelling from which he had been evicted.
18 January: An 18-year-old Takaka female was arrested and charged with two offences of intentional damage, burglary and assault with a weapon. The incident has a domestic background.
18 January: Two red plastic fuel tanks were reported stolen from a boat at a Pohara address overnight.
19 January: An 18-year-old Takaka woman was arrested and charged with intentional damage of a motor vehicle. The incident has a domestic background.
19 January: A yellow Honda fire pump was reported stolen from a verandah at an Onekaka address. This offence may have happened any time in the past two months.
19 January: A Search and Rescue operation was launched looking for an elderly Wellington man in the Rocky Rover area of the Aorere Valley after he was reported a week overdue on a gold-mining trip. It appears there was some confusion over his intentions.
21 January: A Honda 4 x 4 farm bike was reported stolen from a Rockville farm yard. It may have disappeared around 1am on 20 January.
27 December-24 January: A vehicle, left parked at the Takaka i-site, was broken into but it appears nothing was taken.
23 January: A black and silver Haro BMX bike was reported stolen from Cornwall Place, Tata Beach.
24 January: A vehicle left unlocked at Paynes Ford was entered and wallets, containing various quantities of cash, were stolen.
25 January: A 47-year-old Lyttleton man was processed for driving with excess breath alcohol. Results of a blood test are pending.
26 January: The Golden Bay Medical Centre was broken into. The alarm system scared the would-be burglar off.
