Hundreds of cars and an estimated 2,000 people crammed into vantage points all around Collingwood’s Haven last Saturday night to watch another Sealord Fireworks display, put on in conjunction with the Collingwood Fire Brigade.  Barry Wigzell, of the pyrotechnic team fizz gig, said the still weather meant the event went off without a hitch this year.
“We fired around 1700 ‘shots’ in such quick succession. It was probably hard to tell that some of the displays were multiple effects.”
Of particular note is that the fireworks used this year were a new generation of Chinese-made pyrotechnics that were specially developed for the Olympic Games ceremony in Beijing.
