Bay’s best golfer to try his talents in Europe
Golden Bay’s Sean Riordan, now the third-ranked amateur golfer in New Zealand, is planning to head to Europe in June to play in tournaments there.
Having just returned from the Australian Amateur Championships in Brisbane, Sean was busy this week at the South Island Amateur Championships.
Sean hopes that his performances in Europe will improve his international ranking, and the Takaka Golf Club is organising a tournament to help him meet the cost of the trip.
The Benefit Ambrose Tournament is on Sunday 5 April and club spokesperson Linda Sanders said that the club was keen to get behind Sean’s efforts.
“Our ambrose tournaments are always fun so we hope plenty of people will enter teams,” said Linda. “We’ll be happy to accept donations of cash or prizes on Sean’s behalf and all the entry fees will go to his travel fund as well.
“Sean is one of the Bay’s best-ever golfers and is part of a group that brings great credit to the club and the Bay. We’re happy to do what we can to help him achieve his potential.”
