Police report 12 June 2009
1 May: Two chrome-framed wooden-slatted café-style chairs were reported stolen from a Takaka business.
2 May: The 39-year-old driver of a motor vehicle, which left the road on the Takaka-Collingwood Highway, was charged with careless use of a motor vehicle and refusing a blood sample. He will appear in court on 10 July.
6 May: A 23-year-old female and a 29-year-old male were charged with common assault on each other following a domestic incident. They appeared in court on 8 June.
7 May: A 19-year-old Takaka man appeared in court on 26 May charged with urinating in a public place.
7 May: An 18-year-old old Takaka man was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on a building in the Takaka business area. He appeared in court on 26 May.
8 May: A wheelbarrow was reported stolen from a Takaka garden overnight.
8-9 May: A glass panel in a Takaka phone booth was smashed overnight.
8-11 May: Collingwood Playcentre reported tiles damaged over the weekend.
9 May: Three Takaka males aged 17,18 and 20 years appeared in court on 2 June charged with five offences of intentional damage caused to seating, flags and telephone lines on 25 April.
18 May: Tourists in two campervans parked in the library car park were awoken by beer bottles that were thrown at their vehicles. A rear door window of one of the vehicles was smashed.
19 May: A 37-year-old Takaka man was arrested and charged with two charges of assaulting a female and one charge of breaching a protection order after a domestic incident. He was kept in custody and appeared in court the following day. He has been remanded on court bail to a Nelson address.
21 May: Damage was caused to the external workings of a heat pump at a Takaka business.
23 May: A 23-year-old Takaka man was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and utensils. He will appear in court on 23 July.
23 May: A 21-year-old Collingwood man was charged with driving with excess breath alcohol. He was suspended from driving for 28 days. He will appear in the Nelson District Court on 23 June.
24 May: Public toilets at Pohara were intentionally damage overnight.
24 May: A Takaka valley man had four rolls of sheep netting stolen along with a large number of standards.
23 May: Camping gear was reported stolen from Totaranui Camp overnight. The property consisted of tarpaulins and rope.
27 May: A 19-year-old Takaka man was processed for driving with excess breath alcohol. He was to appear in court on 9 June.
29 May: Frozen food was reported stolen from a freezer kept in an outbuilding of an Upper Takaka dwelling.
30 May: A 39-year-old Takaka man appeared in court on 2 June charged with assaulting a female. The offence has a domestic background.
2 June: An unlocked car in a private Takaka driveway was entered and a wallet stolen. A credit card has since been used. Enquiries are continuing.
3 June: A bach on Abel Tasman Drive was unlawfully entered sometime in the last two weeks; nothing was taken.
5 June: A non-injury one-vehicle accident occurred on the Pupu Valley Road when a 15-year-old driver lost control of his car, which skidded off the road and rolled. The driver will be charged with careless use of a motor vehicle.
6 June: Padlocks to the gates of a Takaka business were removed overnight.
7/8 June: Two burglaries occurred at two Takaka addresses. Diving gear was taken in one of the breaks and a large amount of electronic gear, jewellery, firearms etc were stolen in the other. Both addresses are in close proximity to each other in Meihana Street. We would like to hear from anybody who saw anything suspicious around Takaka in the last weekend.
Found property. A gold ring with a red stone, found on 24 May at a Takaka hotel. A red Raleigh Mojave 6.0 mountain bike. Two bags containing, towels, blankets, pillows, etc, found on the Takaka-Collingwood Highway.
