Chris Shaw’s rebranded business, Affordable Transport, is offering new services to the travelling public in Golden Bay. Chris has an easily-recognised diesel-powered Toyota Hiace minibus that is available for hire or charter for trips around the Bay or over the Hill.
“I intend to offer local group and club discounts. On shuttle charters to Nelson the cost will be as low as $20 a person,” said Chris. He is also happy to take travellers to track ends, sightseeing spots or destinations of their choice in the Bay.
Chris has added a Mazda 323 car to his fleet for economical rental. As well, Affordable Transport offers a sleeper-van for hire.
“The sleeper van is a diesel too, so it’s both economical and easier on the environment,” said Chris. “The sleeper van can seat six so a family with four kids can have an economical camping holiday in it. I’ve even got a hire tent available.”To assist with travellers’ packs and bags, Chris also has a covered baggage trailer.
“I can offer just about everything travellers want,” said Chris. “From self-drive options in the van or car to pick-ups and drop-offs at walking and mountain-bike tracks. I can take parties of people out to The Mussel Inn or hire the van to groups for work dos or parties.
“At this time of the year there are very few scheduled services,” said Chris. “Affordable Transport is very responsive. I can pick people up from Wainui, where they’ve left their car, and take them over to Totaranui. They do the five to six-hour walk back to their car and they’ve had a great day.”
