Fifteen up-and-coming players had a netball-rich experience in the second week of the holidays thanks to an innovative fundraising idea dreamed up by Cherie Chamberlain.
The girls signed up for a three-day Netball Camp which entitled them to coaching from members of the Golden Bay High School ‘A’ netball team.
Cherie coaches the ‘A’ netball team that is hard at work raising money to go to the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament in Timaru in August.
“I don’t like approaching people all the time for help with our fundraising,” said Cherie. “I’d rather get the girls themselves involved in offering something that people are happy to pay for because it’s good value and fun.”
Participants agreed that they valued the input of senior players. They also valued the one-on-one assistance with key techniques they got.
