Long-time fan names GB netball Allstars team
y for 17 years and in that time he has seen a lot of talented players. Pat rarely misses a Saturday at the high school courts and he’s rated as a canny sideline expert.
Challenged to put together his personal all-time Golden Bay Allstars team—the best of the players he has seen—he was at first reluctant.
“The players I don’t select who think they belong in the Allstars aren’t going to be pleased with me, but I’ll have a go,” said Pat.
Pat said that his final selection took a lot of serious thought and that there were several players in most positions who were unlucky to miss out. He declared a conflict of interest as he is the brother of one his selections, but said that Teresa was there on merit and he could cope with the flak. His extensive reserve bench was selected for their versatility and their qualities as team players.
Pat said that his Allstars would be awesome to watch because of their ability to move the ball quickly through the court, their reliable defenders and their accurate shooters.
“On their day, with all these players at their peak, the Golden Bay Allstars would give the Nelson Reps a hurry-up,” he said. “And if all the reserves got injured I could always put the coach on the court.”
