The GB Weekly would look better with a re-designed masthead.
The GB Weekly would look better with a re-designed masthead....
I support the installation of surveillance cameras in the Takaka CBD
I am generally satisfied with standards of service and presentation in Golden Bay businesses.
The Joan Whiting Home must be allowed to continue to operate until the integrated facilty is ready.
Bay businesses should specifically train their staff to provide good service.
Is it a good idea to continue to publish the tide chart in The GB Weekly?
Greengrass says "I realise that people who don't get a hard copy of the Weekly don't know about the crossword and I apologise to them for starting a discussion on a topic that excludes them. Maybe we could publish the crossword on the website? Anyway, people who do the crossword should feel free to use this forum to complain, ask questions about the puzzles or make (reasonable) suggestions. "

September 4th, 2009 at 09:30 PMTonie Watts says "Yes, in the same issue. I don't want to wait a whole week to find out that one elusive answer! But not on the adjacent page. Put it among the ads where we are not so likely to read it "accidentally". Love the crosswords!"
September 5th, 2009 at 08:34 AMNicole says "Hi Greengrass, I can see why some people would like to have the answers to the crossword in the next weeks weekly, however, for those people who may not see the following weeks weekly (eg. going overseas or on holiday) it would be frustrating. All it takes is a bit of willpower not to 'look' at the answers prematurely and there are places in the layout that are better than others for reducing the accidental viewing of the crossword solution. For example the underside of the page at the top right could be the most discrete. What about putting the crossword answers upside down and in smaller text also? Great crosswords — I'm getting a bit better!"
September 5th, 2009 at 12:46 PMGreengrass says "Hi Tonie, Nicole and Martha. Thank you very much for your comments. Martha, I will start negotiating with management to see whether the crossword can be loaded at the same time as we update the website each week. It's a great thrill for us to think that far-flung Bayites read the Weekly in exotic locations all over the world. PS I popped another 't' in fortnightly, jus for old ime's sake."
September 5th, 2009 at 05:04 PMchris mitson says "Definitely the same week. I can't risk anxiety attacks, sleepless nights, high blood pressure and depression when that fiend Greengrass stops me with a curly one! But maybe to discourage sneaky peeking, you could publish the answers to reflect what the wicked stepmother saw while standing on her head? (6, 5, 6, 4). Greengrass can provide the answer, I'm sure! Thanks for a consistently excellent crossword."
September 5th, 2009 at 06:45 PMDerry says "To be consistent with other weeklies, and to help folk who want to keep on trying, it would be good to have the answers the following week. (As a technological dinosaur, it wouldn't worry me at all if the answers were put on the website straight away)."
September 7th, 2009 at 07:25 PMGreengrass says "Interesting arguments, all of them. Derry you are some kind of clever technological dinosaur if you can find your way to our website and leave a comment in an online discussion. I think you are too modest! We'll release the results of the poll in this week's edition. Chris, I did eventually crack your clue but thanks for the email as well."
