The GB Weekly would look better with a re-designed masthead.
The GB Weekly would look better with a re-designed masthead....
I support the installation of surveillance cameras in the Takaka CBD
I am generally satisfied with standards of service and presentation in Golden Bay businesses.
The Joan Whiting Home must be allowed to continue to operate until the integrated facilty is ready.
Bay businesses should specifically train their staff to provide good service.
Is it a good idea to continue to publish the tide chart in The GB Weekly?
David and Annemarie says "It certainly is, it is so narrow and busy a speed limit of 30/40 km would be very reasonable and ofcourse it would be a lot safer for all."
January 11th, 2010 at 01:27 PMEvita. says " As the district's main shopping area, in such a confined space, traffic speed definitely needs to be restricted to a slower speed. Frequent near misses, especially during this holiday season, compound the problems of the narrow street. Equally important should be the insistence that large vehicles, such as trucks and tankers, do not drive through Commercial Street. "
January 11th, 2010 at 10:44 PMEm Hofstede says "During business hours I always slow down to about 30 or 20 km/h between the Brigand and the grocery store...the streets are full, and it simply seems instinctive...I support a slower speed limit completely....but how? Please no speed bumps! During non business hours I appreciate driving through at 50 km....what if that distance were bricked? people would have to slow down n'est pas? Certainly their awareness would be heightened. I'm not in favour of a reroute for locals although pointing this out to tourists intent on passing Takaka by could be beneficial....I really appreciate Martine bringing this forward..."

January 26th, 2010 at 01:54 AMFaye says "Anybody with half a brain already slows down going through town to a min of 40kph. To make it the law will solve nothing because the ones that speed now have total disregard for others anyway. Along with people that open their car doors into traffic and the other beauties that stand in the middle of the traffic flow with car doors open and have a conversation with someone on the foot path or in the vehicle. Do we enforce a law that perhaps can cover all the dangerous and stupid acts of a lot of people on this street. Who is going to police this total disregard of others. Speeding is not the only problem up town. Run a poll as to how many vehicles have made contact with either other vehicles or cyclists due to these people. Common sense is all that is required and of course giving a damn and not being rude, selfish and arrogant."
January 26th, 2010 at 08:24 AMBay Watcher says "Yes reducing the speed is a very good idea and a reduction of speed to 30 kph through the business area will have no significant effect on travel times. There are a number of areas that have a 30 kph speed limit including kaiteriteri and Marahau. More importantly I would suggest that a heavy vehicles by pass for the business area as a priority. Why do fully loaded trucks (including logging and stock trucks) pass through the township in the busiest days of the year ( or ay time of the year) when they can take an alternative route. Maybe might has right or it might be as simple as we have driven through town for the last 50 years so why should we change. The solutions can be simple and enhancement with out detriment are logical."
