Police report
13 April: The historical theft of two beehives from the Collingwood area was reported.
14 April: A 30-year-old tourist was cautioned for credit by fraud after he failed to pay for accommodation at a Takaka hotel. He has paid his debt.
15 April: A blue Raleigh mountain bike was reported stolen from an insecure garage at a Takaka address.
16 April: An empty dwelling was unlawfully entered in the Collingwood area. Nothing was taken and there was no damage. It appears offender/s had slept there.
16 April: A 34-year-old Collingwood man was charged with assaulting a patron at a Takaka licensed premises.
17 April: A vehicle parked at the showgrounds in Takaka overnight sustained damage to its door handles, wing mirror and wipers at some stage during the night. The front number plate was also stolen.
19 April: An honesty box was reported stolen overnight from a Golden Bay produce vendor.
19 April: A vehicle parked at Pohara, near to where its owners were camping, had a window smashed and a packet of tobacco stolen.
19 April: An unlocked vehicle parked at a Takaka address was entered overnight and grocery items stolen.
19 April: An Avanti Black Thunder mountain bike was reported stolen from a Takaka address. The bike was most probably stolen around 10 April.
19 April: A vehicle belonging to a local person was entered via an insecure door while it was parked at the Wainui Falls car park. The owner’s cell phone, hearing aids and a small amount of cash were stolen. This was a daytime offence.
19 April: A 17-year-old Takaka man was arrested and charged with the theft of the hearing aids, cell phone etc from Wainui Bay earlier that day. More charges are likely. He will appear in court on 25 May.
19 April: A blue Ford Sierra SW reg MM2405 was unlawfully taken from Selwyn Street sometime in the previous three days.
Found property. The Takaka Police are currently holding the following items of property:
Orange plastic whitewater canoe. Recovered from the Cobb Valley.
- A fine chain gold necklace with a ladybird-shaped pendant. Found in children’s playground.
- A Torpedo 7 cycling backpack found at Birds Clearing.
- A silver crucifix on a silver chain encrusted with stone. Found in the library car park.
- A Giant Upland mountain bike coloured red with a green helmet. We have had this since February.
- A Pathfinder II pram found in the library car park.
