John Davis of Pakawau likes to have new potatoes ready each year for his wedding anniversary on 28 September.
“It was even more important this year because Clare and I celebrated our 50th anniversary this year,” says John.
John is The GB Weekly’s rainfall contact in Pakawau and he says that conditions have not been at all helpful for spud-growing this spring, but he was still able to find a good-looking feed of Rockets when The GB Weekly visited. He saves his own seed potatoes and plants in late June or early July.
Clare and John celebrated their anniversary with family.
