Last Sunday’s Cultural Food and Wine Festival was a success again. The festival is in its second year and, despite having to contend with some dodgy weather late in the day, attracted a large crowd.
“We sold 300 more tickets this year and everyone seems to be very happy with the way it went,” said spokeserson Terry Knight. “We’ve got enough money in the bank to be able to start planning next year’s festival and we’re already thinking about ways of enhancing the event.”
One of the sponsors, Nick Hodgkinson, said that he was “rapt” with the festival again. “We knew we had a bigger crowd this year because we filled the carpark to capacity at one stage and had to ferry people up from the top of Richmond Road.”
The festival showcased a lot of Golden Bay art, craft, fashion, food and produce. Stallholders reported mixed success, some being rushed off their feet and others being content to participate in an important community event while giving their businesses excellent exposure and introducing locals and visitors to their product.
