The GB Weekly would look better with a re-designed masthead.
The GB Weekly would look better with a re-designed masthead....
I support the installation of surveillance cameras in the Takaka CBD
I am generally satisfied with standards of service and presentation in Golden Bay businesses.
The Joan Whiting Home must be allowed to continue to operate until the integrated facilty is ready.
Bay businesses should specifically train their staff to provide good service.
Is it a good idea to continue to publish the tide chart in The GB Weekly?
richard mathews says "When you visit facilities like Moutere Hills and see what is possible, it makes me want something like that here in the Bay. It would also bring the different sections of the community together under one roof. Once your group has finished its activity they would then socialise in the shared coffee/bar area."
March 25th, 2011 at 09:00 AMLynne Udell says "Initially I thought this was a great proposal and I still see many merits, but given that there was a community feasibility study carried out in 2009 and findings were that 50% of respondents did not believe there was a need for a Multifunction Centre, 23% believed there was a need, 16% saying 'maybe' and a small number not knowing, then the whole matter needs to be considered in light of the reports indepth analysis around local opinion. It is quite possible that a less straight forward proposal may cover more needs of the community as a whole."
March 25th, 2011 at 06:19 PMMermaid says "Several years ago the community survey revealed the next most desired asset for the Bay was an all-year-round pool and within the planned concept we could encompass this healthy activity, along with what is proposed we could attract events to the Bay instead of all the one-way travelling out of the Bay and the health benefits for young and old, families in one place etc and with recreational spaces we can truly become a community with a heart! Let's move forward with confidence together and develop an area that can deal with all contingencies covered. We must learn from our neighbours and be prepared for emergencies by having such facilities where Search & Rescue can co-ordinate, culture and sport can grow and businesses of Golden Bay can prosper. Green light for this one please Golden Bay!"
March 25th, 2011 at 11:16 PMkeep rates down says "A new central facility requires as much driving as several small ones around the Bay - not everyone lives in Takaka. We can barely afford to maintain existing halls and facilities. What will happen to them if we add the new facility? Do you want to risk loosing your existing cultural heritage in favour of a new cultural facility looking like the rest of the world. How about reducing rates and make do with what we have got? "

March 28th, 2011 at 01:20 PMjohn says "We already pay for facilities within the Tasman District. why shouldnt our own have equal opportunities to the best facilities.... facilities that could meet all our recreational needs, for our young, our youth, parents and the elderly, clean warm facilities to meet all our needs and designed to meet the needs of future generations,a facility that would attract visitors to the bay.. knock on effects would help local business, create opportunities within its infrastructure for work and education. you can only say yes. "
March 29th, 2011 at 04:41 PMA Wooster says "The multifunction centre built in Murchison a couple of years ago cost a couple of individuals six figures plus. A huge amount was donated through working bee's and donations of materials. You need to have a couple people with money and an enormous drive. An indoor pool with hydro slide and bumper boats is a must! Good luck."
