Fresh FM has had a dynamic start to 2011, and is offering an expanding programme with new presenters and topics.
Programme co-ordinator Paddy Brennan has been pleased to receive such a show of interest. “A whole bunch of people suddenly turned up at the radio station, and of course it always makes a big difference because they are excited and very enthusiastic and the whole place is really buzzing.”
Relatively new to Fresh FM is a programme called the Passionate Women Radio Show, with producer and host Rose Diamond, and technical support from Lisa Condell. Although this show focuses on women’s lives and their experiences, it is of interest to anyone.
“Live to air, Passionate Women features interviews with women who are making a difference. They come from the Top of the South and from all over New Zealand,” says Paddy. “Rose has had an interesting life herself and runs her own business. She was a guest on Victoria Davis’s show once and I asked her if she would like to do a show bringing in women who are living their passion.”
Examples of inspiring women include those working as innovative entrepreneurs, in the arts, or with experience in a certain areas of specific interest to women and the wider community.
Rose has recently returned to live in Golden Bay. She has published two books, Migration to the Heartland and Living your Passion. A third book about women and their creative process is underway. She describes herself as hosting creative conversations, offering spaces for deep community connection and soulful enquiry, and being a creative catalyst for others.
The next Passionate Women Radio Show is on 14 June and it runs fortnightly on Tuesdays, from 4pm to 5pm.
Producer and host Rob Dawson’s show Tuesday Muse is on every second Tuesday from noon to 1pm and airs again on 14 June. Rob is also live to air and enjoys mixing music with newsy bits from Golden Bay and the region. He hopes to get some local talent into the studio during this lunchtime hour. The programme is sponsored by Mariposa and lucky listeners can win a monthly $25 voucher.
Patrick Rose’s show Before the Flood, on Fridays from 4 to 5pm, has a strong focus on enviro-political issues. “The last two shows were really hard-hitting,” says Paddy. “He has a background in broadcasting and he sets up interviews from all over the world. His show alternates with Victoria Davis’s show According to Golden Bay.”
The Jam live-to-air youth show features two new hosts. “Seb du Feu and Bill Salmon have taken over from the previous presenter George Machin, who has gone to New York for his big OE. They go to Golden Bay High School and enjoy everything to do with music,” says Paddy. “They are sponsored by the Youth Council. It’s a good source for finding out about youth events coming up in Golden Bay and across the Top of the South.”
Expect some great music and a bit of a heated musical debate, as they do not always agree on what is great, and they also appreciate input and feedback from the listeners.
