If you look at the whole page the masthead looks just a little bit small. (Mind you I'm still fond of the retro one we're so used to!) "

I have heard that the room size for the Older Person's nursing home section have been cut to below the Australasian Standards, some rooms are without toilet suites and the outlook for some rooms are blank walls. I would like to know is this correct? My concern is for older people in our community now and in the future. Secondly,with regards contacting the present Medical Centre during the day and after hours. I have heard that phone calls are now redirected to an Auckland call centre where the calls are triaged by a nurse who does not know the history of the patient. My concerns about this are firstly health and safety related to the competency of the triage nurses. Nurses do not have the years of training that doctors have.I have already heard of parents seeking help for their child who have been advised of a grim likely cause of their child's crying thereby increasing their anxiety considerably.Nurses may have fine qualities and medical knowledge but they do not have the depth of knowlege or diagnostic training of doctors.A further concern is about the loss of the very humane contact the people of GB have traditionally had with staff at our medical centre which has seemed to work well in the past.
