2012 Golden Bay Fashion Show

Collingwood  fashionista Jodianne Peters has organised the 2012 Golden Bay Fashion Show which will take to the catwalk at the Naked Possum next Thursday 19 January at 7pm.
“I see the show as an opportunity to give young, up-and-coming designers and experienced designers the opportunity to showcase their work here in Golden Bay. We have a lot of talented people here and we rarely get to see their creations on display. What I would really like to see from the show is everyone involved enjoying themselves.”
Jodianne, a design school graduate, has been working on the show since October and says she has been really heartened by the response of everyone she has approached. She had 20 confirmed entries last week and was happy to accept more. Both local and out-of-town designers’ work will be shown and some designers will be modelling their own creations.
“I’ve had lots of amazing support from the Collingwood community as well as generous backing from a range of business sponsors. Margy Meys and her class of young sewers have been wonderful and Paul Sangster agreed to be the MC. It’s sure to be a great night.”
The show has three categories: Youth (9 to 17 years) Wearable Art, Summer Fun Casual Wear and A Night Out Evening Wear; a Sponsors’ section and an Open (18 years and over) section in which designers may enter one garment or their full collection. Group entries are welcome, says Jodianne. Entry is free and there are prizes for first and second in the youth section and for the audience’s choice in the open categories.
“This is a non-profit event,” says Jodianne. “All the money from the ticket sales will go towards prizes and the setting up costs. We have asked around for prizes and support and have had a fantastic result from a whole lot of businesses and the Collingwood Area School.”
Tickets are on sale at The Naked Possum and the Golden Bay Gallery. They are $15.00 for adult (16 years and over) and the price includes ticket includes one free wine or juice.
Anyone interested in entering the show or in helping out can contact Jodianne on 524 8540 or email her at: <jopudney@xtra.co.nz>.
