Santa Parade pics

If you have any photos of the Santa Parade, would you kindly e-mail them to me, please? They will be made available to funding agencies, the Village Theatre and publications highlighting Golden Bay events. Email: recreation@gbcw.co.nz
A big thank you to all those who were able to participate and to those who donated goods and services. A lot of people missed the parade so hopefully we’ll be back up to full strength in December 2012.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

Ninety-nine point eight per cent of the mass, energy and power of the entire solar system is the sun. If the sun gets angry, we are toast in eight minutes. Earth exists within the sun’s “Cinderella” zone.
Every living species on Earth must constantly adapt to whatever our star, the Sun, chooses to throw at us.
It is regrettable that some people still think the UN is a force for good. For what? To eliminate war, poverty, famine, injustice, change the climate?
The UN was created by the same “team” that brought you the global financial system, with precisely the same objective – global enslavement of the masses for the benefit of the 0.001 per cent; our secretive masters, the ruling class.
Anyone with an inquisitive brain could establish that the priceless Manhattan real estate that the UN headquarters is built on was gifted by the US lackeys of the Rothschild’s, the Rockerfellers.
The IPCC is UN salaried, expense account pseudo-scientists, enjoying endless rounds of “conferences” otherwise known as continual fine dining experiences at luxury resorts around the globe – at taxpayer’s expense.
And yes, man’s pollution of our fabulous watery sphere in pursuit of profit is an utter disgrace.

The December flood

Thank you to these good hearts at the recent hullaballoo
when little streams at Pohara all turned into poo,
gravel, sand, stones and big logs by the score
(that played pickup sticks at Udell’s back door).
Thank you Red Cross and Civil Defence
folks who leapt into big diggers trucks and fluoro vests,
who walked up the gully with meals, yummy cakes
and shovels full of compassion,
slithered into the mud,
began splishin’ and splashin’.
Your humour and kindness turned what seemed a
disaster
into only another New Year’s resolution to master!
At Agood SI, we your souls do bless.
Thankyou so much for your help with the mess!
(Please accept this as a personal acknowledgement.)

News on TV One

On Monday night’s 10.30pm news on TVOne, the following items were broadcast in this order:
The suspicious death of a two-month-old baby; the sinking of a cruiseliner with many people missing; dangerous work on the Rena wreckage; two men feared drowned while fishing; body found in drain; euthanasia activist threatened; Serious Fraud Office charge five people in relation to South Canterbury Finance; two women arrested for assault and shoplifting; five injured in blaze; protesters resume in Dunedin Octagon; homeless “Blanket Man” dies.
The newsreader then informed us that that the Golden Globe Awards, sport and weather would follow the advertising break. How uplifting.
Mostly negative, worrying, sad stories. Mostly New-Zealand-focused too. Why does the television news department decide that this is what we want to know about? Can’t good stories be news too? Can’t they report on some of the progressive, successful and wonderful stories that are happening in New Zealand and around the world, every day?
Maybe I should stick with the Māori Channel.

The December flood

My sincere thanks and gratitude for the generous help I have had from so many wonderful friends and neighbours, too many to name individually here, who gave so much time and effort to me during the flood and in the following days. They swept, shovelled, packed, brought food and consoled. What a wonderful community.
Let’s hope we can support and encourage one another with patience and kindness until we have restored this beautiful part of New Zealand.

A thank you

The GB Cycle and Walkways Association Inc wish to thank the following kind people for their very generous assistance in helping us prepare for consultation over the proposed Pohara to Takaka cycle/walk track: Unlimited Copies, Neil Baker, the kind local businesses who accept our posters, Campbell Langford and above the generous people who have donated funds to the NBS Bank, Takaka.
The association will have a tent at the A&P Show on 21 January, showing Neil Baker’s 1200mm sculptured head carved from silver beech with a value of $800 which is being raffled. We will also accept donations towards reports we need in order to apply for resource consent.
