The Collingwood Food Fair is on this Sunday, providing an opportunity for you to take your taste buds for a walk on the wild side.
For $25 you can enjoy a far-out, all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of foods you don’t often encounter. Shark, eels, cockles, goat, hare, possum…it’s all there, including a hangi and spit roast. But fear not - for the less game among us there will be salads, soups and desserts. Beer, wine and pop will be available at a cash bar, and coffee from a coffee cart.
The musical entertainment will be provided by Rayzanne, Phil and Julie Strange, and The Swaffords. And while the adults are dancing (or finger drumming), the kids can play on the bouncy castle or the water slide, or have a try at Sumo wrestling. The four-way tug o’war will be held once again, and attendees are encouraged to put together a team and give it a go.
Volunteers perform all of the work for this epicurean event, now in its fifth year. The spirit of the day is fun, lively and laid-back, and it has become a popular community event to attend with family and friends.
A courtesy coach will operate within the Takaka and Collingwood areas. Please phone 021 033 1227 for more information.
This event is hosted by the Collingwood Rugby Football Club at the recreation grounds in Collingwood, and runs from 3pm till sundown on Sunday, 29 January. If the weather does not co-operate, the event will be postponed to Monday. This decision will be made on the day. Check the Collingwood Rugby Football Club’s website if in doubt (www.eteamz.com/CollingwoodRugbyFootballClub). Children under 16 accompanied by an adult get in free.
