It’s hard to believe but we have just published our fourth ‘lockdown’ issue. A lot has happened during the last three-and-a-half weeks – not only in New Zealand, but across the globe – and we are making sure that Golden Bay is kept informed of developments in our own unique corner of the world. We are also doing our best to keep our readers entertained and inspired by reporting on the amazing things that members of our community are doing to support each other through this difficult time.
At The GB Weekly we are all working from our respective homes, which is a challenge, but the most important thing is that everyone stays safe and well. While understandably our advertising revenue has declined significantly, many local advertisers have continued to support us – and for that we are immensely grateful.
It appears that the Government’s strategy of going hard and going early is paying off and there are signs that lockdown restrictions may begin to ease shortly. It will be wonderful to see businesses, schools and other facilities re-open, and the community re-emerge after a forced hibernation. Whether this happens sooner or later, we will be here to report on what’s happening around the Bay.
